A New Perspective

Casey's big news from last week is that she has started to really love the sitting position (with support) and is enjoying seeing the world from a whole new perspective!  She is holding her head up well enough that we tried out her Bumbo seat this weekend and she was busy checking everything out.  Her interest in toys and other objects has really started to increase lately, and by sitting up she is able to explore her surroundings so much better.  We also had a good visit with her Speech Therapist last week, and she gave us some new ideas to help Casey when she becomes uninterested in finishing her bottles.  Since she is showing so much more interest in the things around her, we have started walking while we feed her to distract her and it has helped to get those extra ounces down.  It was a particularly difficult week as far as feeding goes, and this trick has really helped (but it is sure tough on my back...keep in mind that when you deliver at 2 pounds, your body is not used to carrying the weight of a "normal" sized baby).  Speaking of weight, we didn't have the best gain (4.5 ounces for the week), but it does mean she broke 12 pounds, and is now tipping the scales at 12 pounds 1.5 ounces.  We suspect one of the biggest contributors to her inability to gain the desired one ounce per day is that Casey is still struggling with a fair amount of spit-ups. We are hoping that her pediatrician will adjust her reflux meds this week so that all of us can get some relief.  The Doodle was quite the show off again in her SST appointment last week and our therapist was very encouraging about her motor progress. Gigi even insists that she actually rolled over twice one day at her house, but we have tried and tried to get her to do it again, and I remain unconvinced (I myself prefer the "I'll believe it when I see it" motto).  Regardless, she is getting awfully close, and we are hoping to see it with our own eyes soon.

That's about all of our news. Enjoy the latest pics of our sweet girl:
